IMPROVISATION
Task One
This task is a great way to introduce improvisation as it is instructional and revolves around a stimulus. It allows students to work in pairs, to embody each others movement and helps students to reflect on their movement patterns. The task aims to remove some of the nerves and trepidation associated with creating material from scratch.
Task Two
This task is great to get students thinking of movements they wouldn’t predominantly use or create. The task is aimed at impossible and un-natural movement, but the process of how to achieve these movements is what is carried forward into the piece. It allows students to discover pathways within their bodies and abstract ways to move.
Interview with Matthew Sandiford
